He is coming to this position from the Ruffed Grouse Society, where he served as the Director of Conservation Programs. Our May program focuses on the open-ended theme of "Heritage". This public program engages our community in a discussion about the things we leave behind for future generations. From restoring and preserving the land to creating heirlooms meant to be handed down and cherished from generation to generation, we each seek out ways to push the limits of our heritage. Participants will explore the theme through the discussion of the book. Vilas County Lake Conservation Specialist, Quita Sheehan, will facilitate the science end of things with the science topic focusing on cultural heritage. The session is set for Friday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the library. Even if people haven’t read the book beforehand, there will be a brief summary of it. If you are not much of a reader, you are still welcome to attend. The program is free, but pre-registration is required. Refreshments and a light supper will be served. Free copies of the books for discussion will be given to the first 8 people to register beginning on April 16th. Additional copies are available for check out and available in a variety of formats, including audio, digital and print copies. Space is limited and going fast, so don’t wait too long. For more information, contact the library at 479-8070. *Pushing the Limits is a reading, viewing, and discussion program for adults in communities served by rural libraries, made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
